Currently his name is schlitz (coz he came in a brown paper bag). We got him from a local pet store after talking to 3 of the people who work with the reptiles there and all three of them own a bunch of snakes themselves and all of them were extremly helpfull. they had feeding records of each snake, weight records, a rack of provent-a-mite cans that they use to disinfect everything. all thier reptiles looked healthy except for this tree boa that was not for sale (supposedly he wasn't eating which is a good thing that they only sell snakes that are healthy eaters.) plus they are a small store and they only sell captive bred. The only thing that I didnt like about the pet store was that they have been feeding the snakes live food. I am assuming they do this because the snakes are pretty stressed in a petstore environment and getting them to eat a live mice is a lot easier than dealing with f/t? I dunno...I do know that I'll be weaning him onto f/t rats asap.
The guy we got is very active, very clean and hopefully very happy in his new home. thanks a bunch to all the people on this site who helped me out with the tank setup!
I have a few questions (the first in im sure an unending stream hehe):
he was last fed a feeder mice last sunday. I was going to try to feed him yesterday but I decided I'd wait until today, so I could get some feedback from you guys. Should I try to feed him today? Hes been in the tank since friday and I obviously havent touched him or anything like that. He seems pretty relaxed (i.e. stretching out in the open basking area...going to sleep out in the open etc.) If no feeding today, how long should I wait?
Also, how long should I wait until I start handling him?
Again, thanks for all your help !
