I Really need help, for i am a moron

Can someone help me with finding easy instructions on how to build a 2'x3' cage...2' in depth. I would really appreciate any help. I have a baby ball, Suzie Q, and want to fix her up nice.

A cage that size is WAY to big for a baby ball python. try a 20 gallon aquarium until it gets fully grown. Even when shes fully grown that my be to big, depends on how big she gets.

I would suggest using a rubbermaid container. They are generally easier all around. Easier to clean, easier to heat, easier to keep proper humidity, snake feels more secure, etc.

yeah anything around an aquarium or a rubbermaid should do fine. but like i said before a cage like that is way to big.

ok...but i am wanting something that I can put in the living room of my house that wont look hideous...plus, how would I heat a rubbermaid without melting it? TOLD YOU I WAS A MORON!

well if your heating a rubbermaid to the point of melting your gonna end up with a dead snake.. balls only need like a 93 hot spot.. and our body temp is around 97.8 you will not melt a rubbermaid at these temps.. as for heating a het pad or tape on a dimmer..

as for building the enclosure.. it may be an idea to check out some garage sales for old furnature around the size that you want... add some glass doors ( if not already on) and heating. seal the inside and you have a nice enclosure... you dont sound like you have the right tools so.. thats probably your best bet

i have my young female boa in a rubbermaid and you can heat it with a human heating pad. the hard part is finding one that doesnt have an auto shutoff. rubbermaids are way easier than aquariums even though they dont look as good.

And on the Rubbermaid, you dont use a lamp? Just a heat pad. I see now. A couple holes in the lid...small ones, and I am good to go....huh....right?

If you are looking for a snake that is a "showpiece" I have to regretfully inform you that you have chosen the wrong snake. Ball pythons are nocturnal and when they are awake, like to be hidden and covered. Sorry....

I am not looking for a "showpiece" I just want to have him in the living room...no big deal...but i dont want a monstrosity of a cage to ugly up my house.

welcome to the reptile world youll end up with alot of ugly cages... i started out with nice cages.. the last one i didnt even bother painting the outside..

You can use an aquarium or rubbermaid built into a nice piece of furniture like a stereo cabinit or something. You might want to consider something with doors that can be closed so if your snake is stressed out or your guests are afraid you can just shut the door. It is easier to clean rubbermaids then aquariums. You can even have a second one that you can slide out of the display case from the back, slip the clean one in and transfer the snake. Then take your time cleaning the dirty container but get it ready to exchange the next cleaning.
A baby bp needs small spaces to feel safe. If you put him in a large cage (normal hatchling cage is shoe box size) you need to put lots of hides in the large cage.
You should use under tank heating set at 95(the heat pad itself) on one end of the tank.That will make the hot spot inside the cage about 90. Your ambiant room temp should be around 80(this will be the temp in the cold side of the cage).
