Hello,
I have three 10 gallon tanks for my new corns... I am using undertank heaters in all them, they the UTH covers about half the tank....I am using bucther paper in the tanks right now...Will this be fine for them or should I have other heating..Are the UTH to hot with just paper for a substrate in the tanks...They are only about 1-2 months old... I have only used heat lamps up till now, but I am getting fed up with the constant red glow in my room.. lol..

Thanks,
Ryan

if you use a UTH use a rheostat and thermometer with it. without a substrate the glass and paper may get too hot for your babies.

get a temp gun and a digital thermometer. keep the digital thermometer on the glass to watch ambient temps. use the temp gun to point it at the basking spot to make sure it is the right temp and check the cool end to make sure its not too hot or too cold either. i would use newspaper because its easily taken out and thrown away when it gets messy and very cheap and easy to replace.

id get bigger tanks, 20gallon longs or the like and use overhead heating lamps (they make ceramic bubls that dont put off light, only heat). bigger tank = better gradient.
