while browsing i found an interesting lil bit of information any1 know if its true?

"Believe it or not, these lizards were actually thought to be extinct up until 1994 when they were "rediscovered" in relatively large numbers on the main island of New Caledonia, Grande Terra. From there they were taken to Europe then imported into the US"

Yup, they were just 'rediscovered' back in the early 90's. If you've ever tried to find a brown(ish) fire crestie in a bunch of leaf litter or bark mulch, you'll understand why they were thought extinct. It's almost impossible to see them if they're not moving. The pattern and colours fade right into the woodwork so to speak. Wild ones are more towards brown, tan and grey - perfect camouflage.

There's a perfect website to check out. It's got all the right info and just about anything you'd want to know is covered, right down to the weather in their home range. Check out Crested Gecko International (http://www.geocities.com/crestedgecko/) by Emerson Sy. I recommend it as a 'must read' site for anyone who keeps crested geckos.

Oh... welcome to the Crestie Fan Club. It's nice to see another victim of these "hairy" googly-eyed little vermin. :D

Welcome to the clan!

When I first started out, I just read everything and anything about cresties, and then put everything in a melting pot. I think you also just have to pay attention to your animal in particular, as each one is a little different in its likes and dislikes... at least as far as food and hiding spots are concerned with my guys!

Welcome aboard, be prepared to have more cresties in the future, as they just seem to start to multiply!!
