How does one gauge the quality of a crested, i know if it is nice and appealing to me it is good for me, but i am curious as to what to look for when buying a crested gecko, should i be looking for dalmatian spots? colours? patterns? like when i buy a leopard i know which genetics are desireable or a snake for that matter but cresteds have got me stumped.
cheers

Well everyone has their favourites and their genetics are a lot different than leopard geckos. They are poly morphic and come in a variety of different colours and morphs. I think if you can combine a bright colour with any morph it will be desireable. I also think that by combining the different morph and physical traits together it will catch peoples attention. I wouldn't buy a crested to breed because other people like them I buy for myself :P
What catches your eye?

I generally buy an individual crested based on how much I like that individual crested. Along with appearance, I also try to only buy from people I trust and people I know take excellent care of their geckos. I also look for healthiness, which is something I think most people look for first.
After I purchase a crested is when I start to think about how they will fit into my future breeding plans. I am going to try to experiment, basically mix and matching different things that I think will look cool together.
That's my 2 cents on it!
