shedding ?

I have a new female albino burmese that's about 26 inches that ate last thursday. The last couple of days her eyes seem rather milky and her skin is a little dull, I think she will be shedding soon. Should I feed her again this week? Also should I soak her or increase the humidity in there? I noticed she was a little cranky when I picked her up tonight. Should I avoid handling her, and how long is the whole shedding process? thanks

I think you can hold back the urges of handling for a week , give or take a few days. Her being agressive is her way of saying "leave me alone, im not in the mood". If shes shedding...you can try and feed her, some snakes eat while shedding..some dont. You can give her a moist hide..or lightly mist her enclosure in the morning if it'll help.

I have two 8 foot plus burms I raised from hatchlings, and in this time there are some trends I have noticed with regards to shedding.
1. Burms don't eat during shed mode.
2. They don't like being moved or handled during shed due to reduced visibility.
3. Shed usually takes 8 to 10 days in total.
4. Make sure you have a large water dish available at all times, for your snake, a dish with an eight inch diameter will suffice. Up to 4 months of age burms spend a fair amount of time in the water dish. Keep the level of water about one inch deep.
5. After the shed, take out the water dish, old skin and substrate. Burms usually urinate and defecate when they shed and you must keep the enclosure clean for health reasons.
6. Make sure you have a fairly large smooth rock in the enclosure, the snake will use this to begin its shed at the nose and rub its body along to aid the removal of the old skin.

I've had burms eat during shed pleanty of times. It all depends on the snake. I've found that if my enclosure is at proper humidity, and my snake is healthy, I don't have to change anything when they enter a shed cycle.
