Heat Pad Question

I have one of those zoo-med heating pads and I was wondering if it will work with wax paper stuck on it to cover up the sticky side. Also does it need to have room beween it and the rubbermaid and what it is sitting on? Like airflow room. Thanks

Are you placing this pad inside or on the bottom of the outside cage? Im guessing it would be ok to leave it on, though I have taken mind off, its still easy to move if you need to do so. Either way; you have a great product there, Zoo Med is an awesome company.

I was going to put it underneath a rubbermaid. I was hoping not to stick it to it so that I can wash it with a hose or put it in the sink.

I dont think they are really meant for much washing, though I guess you can do this. These do get very hot though and I consider it a concern for a rubbdermaid. I have had a 10g crack on me with one of these pads. Many people just barry them in the substrate of the enclosure, which I would suggest doing, most certainly in your case with a rubber maid.

I didn't mean to wash the heat pad I meant to wash the rubbermaid.

It's fine to put unstuck underneath a rubbermaid. Putting it inside the enclosure would be just asking for trouble. Make sure you are measuring the temps inside from time to time with a good quality digital thermometer or temp gun. If the temps are too high build or buy a rheostat (credenza lamp dimmer) so you can turn it down. Some people stick their UTHs to a piece of plywood or MDF, and slide that under the enclosure. I've never peeled any of heat pads yet. Once stuck, they're hard to get off without ruining.
