Female is full grown, 42g
Male is 9/9.5mths, 23g (much smaller)

Can I safely breed these two without the little guy being eaten?
I put the two together for 5min, the female was vibrating like she needed some lovin' (no biting/aggression)? Any help is great

Thanks
Dave

Hi Dave,

Most breeders will recommend that you dont put the 2 together unitl they are each a year old. They should ALWAYS be similar in weight in size to help prevent any agression towards each other. As the male is almost 10 months, I would personally wait at least another 2 months before putting them to gether. You could be asking for trouble by putting them together when there is that much of a difference in weight! Just my thoughts of course! You may want to wait unitl you get more answers to your question and see what everyone else thinks..

Good Luck!!

The weight is there for the female. Bulk up that male because once they start breeding the male will be more interested in mating than eating ;)

I personally would wait until the male has gained weight(at least over 30 grams) plus be at least 1 year old. Like David says, when the male is around the female, they tend to drop a few grams and your guy doesn't have lots to lose. Wait and patience will pay off.

thanks everyone. I actually got the male off Dave Sheridan (an orange/harley/fire, beautiful gecko). I will take your advice for sure. I was planning on waiting but I thought I'd see what the "experts" thought

Thanks again
