View Full Version : Securing Rubbermaid lids... How?

I'd like some ideas to secure Rubbermaid lids. I've heard of people drilling holes through the top lip of the container and the lid itself and securing it with "S" hooks. I was wondering what other methods can be used? The rubbermaid is for a ball python if that matters.

Thanks

I use something called "bulldog" clips to secure my rubbermaids for my IJ carpet pythons. They are usually the clips that hold paper together.

I haven't lost a snake with them yet.

I just drilled 2 holes on each end and 2 in the front, then went ti home depot and picked up some hooks that didn't stick out and did the trick. Total cost for hooks was around $1.75CAN. I know you wanted other ways posted but this was totally easy, inexpensive and works like a charm.

Yeah, I may yet go with the hooks, but I just was hoping to find something that would allow faster access.

These Bulldog clips... are they those black platic clips with like the little metal handles on 'em? I suppose those could work and would be quick and easy to put on and remove...

Go with what you are comfy with, But I guarantee you 100% that it wouldn't take me any longer to get the hooks out then it would take you to take the books off and find a spot to set them down. Plus the hooks can't get knocked off. But again, everyone goes with what they feel comfy with. Good luck

Good point. Guess I'll drill and go with the hooks. Don't what it getting loose now.... The tenants in the basement apartment I rent out likely wouldn't appreciate that too much! :)
