Sorry if this has been asked before (which i'm sure it has), but i'm just wondering what would be required for shipping a single colubrid (Elaphe taeniura ridleyi) from Alabama to Toronto?
what permits (if any) must be obtained and what shipping company(s) are best to use?
thanks in advance for any info!

I've never done it, but I hear that this is basically the process.
You need to check to see if that species is CITES listed...if it's an appendix 3 animal, then nothing is needed, as far as I know. You just contact the shipper and pay for the animal and shipping. If it's an appendix 2, you'll have to wait, because the shipper will need an export license. Once that paperwork goes through, it gets shipped to you, and then you have to take the papers to customs and get them to clear it (which I hear can be a real pain in the a**). Once that's done, you go back and pick up your animal. If the animal is listed as an appendix 1 animal, you need an import license as well. Supposedly all the paperwork can take up to 6+ months, so if it is listed, especially as an appendix 1, I'd think pretty hard about whether or not it's worth it to you. But i'm sure that if you're asking this anyway, it is important to you.
From what I know, it's an taiwan beauty you're asking about right? If so, I doubt it'd be appendix 1...prolly more like 2 if anything. Good luck with the shipping:)
