View Full Version : Feeding Question
I just got a Baja Rosy Boa two weeks ago. The store was feeding her live pinks by hand. Well last week I fed her one frozen pink, and she ate it in a few minutes. Well today I fed it another frozen, and she didn't want to eat it. I waited twenty minutes, and she just coiled in a corner. So I went to go get a live pink, and she ate it real quick. Any ideas to get her feeding straight frozen or will she not eat frozen some times?
Thank You in Advance.
she might just be a picky eater. i dont know alot about rosies in particular but i know some of my snakes that eat FT like their food very warm. my ball pythons for example will not eat a thawd rodent unless it is very hot, ill dry it with a hair dryer and sit it under a heat lamp for a few minutes. they will only eat their food like this while others either dont care or would rather take their rodents atleast dried off. try making her food hot, she might prefer it like that thinking its very fresh.

if you can it would be better to get her feeding strictly on f/t because it is much easier and safer for the snake. i agree with Lrptls, try warming the food up so that shell think it is live or freshly killed. good luck!

Sometimes I have to use tongs and move the F/Ts around, make it look like they are going to get away, that usually works when my little guys dont feel like eating F/T.
She finally ate frozen today. Actually she's finishing up right now. I soaked the pink in hot water, and then put it in her feeding container. She ignored it at first, but I tried using the feeding tongs, and that got her attention. So after a little moving around of the pink she grabbed it.
Thanks for the advice!
