How do those little baby cresties break out of the eggs? how are they able to make that split? birds have sharp beaks to break out, but not these little guys.....

They have an egg tooth. Right after hatching it eather falls off or just goes away. I think every animal that hatches has an egg tooth.

Im not to sure about that. does a birds beak fall off after they break out off a egg no. so what makes you say that every animal has an egg tooth??

Egg tooth, as stated.
Birds use an egg tooth to hatch as well. The BEAK doesn't fall off, the tooth does.
It's not really a tooth, it's a small hard 'bump' that grows in the beak or nose area specifically for hatching. Sometimes with reptiles, it falls off even before they emerge from the egg. It's well documented, if you want more info. A Google search should produce a lot of hits, maybe even images.

so if they loose the egg tooth before slitting the egg adequately, they would have difficulty getting out and eventually die?

this is a artical i found on google an egg tooth is tooth or toothlike structure used by the young of many egg-laying species to break the shell of the egg and so escape from it at hatching. Some lizards and snakes develop a true tooth that projects outside the row of other teeth, helps the young to hatch, and then is shed. Turtles, crocodilians, and birds have an analogous horny structure that performs a similar function.

I don't know if you want to do that. They will breed if you have a male and female pair. I hope you're willing to deal with the consequences... and know a LOT about breeding beforehand. Being only 11, I hope your parents know what they're getting themselves into.

I don't think age is an issue here, I have seen posts from older people that seem to have less sense than this 11yr old. sounds like a good project with dad going on and from what I can see this 11yr old does research and knows exactly what will happen putting male and female together.

I'm with labomb2...and especially with Dad helping out, I'm not worried. Experience is always key, and if it's what she wants to do, I say go for it :)

We are talking beardies here not burmese Pythons lol. I feel it is an amazing task for the guy. It will teach him how to handle eggs properly, how to regulate Incubators right and he will see first hand the pros and cons of breeding reptiles he will learn that not all out comes can be positive but it is what you learn in the proces that is worth the big bucks.
Being 11 plays in his advantage he will be like 20 and if it is somthing he wants to do he can start investing in morphs at an early age man 15 years old and bringin in more money that Mom and Dad gota like that lol.
Just buy breeding lizards in his room in cages that occupy like what 2 feet wide X 4 feet Long of floor space. stack like 4 one on top of the other and there you have it a summer job that does nopt requier geting up at 5 am and walk all around the neighbourhood.
But in the futer reserch a mater B4 trying to contradict it I see that you have the tools for it just have the DATA befor replying with a debatable response this way you are ready.
People in this industry will debate you and try to discredit you cause of your age your are 11 now if you do proper reserch by the time you are 15 you can take most adults to school with the stuff you know I am living proof I am 22 ben doing this for 11 years I have a 15 year old friend I chat with from time to time and he just blows me away with the stuff he knows some times.
Have fun and just keep reserching knowlege is the true life of this hobby in the realy world it is who you know not what you know. In the Herp world it is what you know and how can you use it to help other people. next thing you know you are one of thows people that every one wants to talk to.

I don't see anything mentioned about her trying to make big bucks, so I wouldn't go that far to say she will, we all know it costs money to make money and from my experience I seem to put out more money than I could ever make taking proper care of these little boogers. I think we are speaking of cresties, not beardies although the same goes for either.
I reckon one problem I have is that I can't part with a single one of mine, I am attached to them all, they are all different personalities and I enjoy everyone of them. Just caring for them and perhaps raising a few from eggs is good life experience for an 11yr old. It's catchy, my addiction started from my son's interest in having a crested, I now have a few of my own in addition to caring for his while he is away. And I added a couple veiled chameleons to my family along with my son's leos and tree frog. we have quite the menagerie. And it is rubbing off on other people who always are interested in how the boogers are doing.
