Don't worry about counting calories for them, just get the fruit only, avoid the ones with tapioca and other 'fillers'. Some or even most kinds have starch added to keep it from being too runny, can't avoid that if you use commercial food.
You don't have to stick to just fruit, squash is fruit too, even though it's in the veggie category. Mine like it once in a while as a treat (though they don't get it often, they will eat it when I serve it up once or twice a year). Same with strained carrots.

How do you feed then the baby food? Do you just put it in a little bowl or something?

You can always make your own baby food, too, and freeze it in ice cube trays. Then you don't have to worry about any ingredients. I make my own (when i can find good peaches) using 1 peach, about 1/3 a banana, and about 2 tsp of honey.
Other than that i've found the Beginner baby foods the best - they have the fewest ingredients and no fillers or citrus.

You can find some baby food that dont have added starch or sugars. You just have to read the labels, I *think* its Gerber or Heinz? They have right on the side "No added Starch or Sugar". You can usualy find them at Shoppers Drug Mart and Zehrs. Any place that usually carries it. But just read the label and you should be OK.
