Yea...

We already have plans to breed him (not right away, but hopefully in 6 months or so...) to a female that looks very similar to the one we sold Hilde in St Jacobs... We figure that him with a red/white fire should be pretty neat...

*fingers crossed*

Sorry, should have added this to my last post, but she looks like this guy, but her crest and markings are a bit more white..

(Sorry Hilde, used your pic, but its just sooo good!!!)

Your quite welcome for your new additions. I will have to get Ryan busy taking a few pictures of some of the ones that we purchased from Doug Healey. I tend to be more partial to the dark fire/harlequins but seeing some of the reds that everyone is posting, makes me think they are pretty nice as well.

I would normally agree with you, with the exception of reds ;)

I love the bloodshot eyes in the first picture --- is that fruit mix you're feeding him fermented by any chance? LOL ;)

Hurry up and get babies from the combo you are planning, I want to see pictures.... soooon.

That one I got from you is definitely a male, so next year he'll be teaming up with Little Red Ridinghood and maybe one of her 'not quite' as remarkable daughters.

I can send you a map to Kitchener that you can give them for the trip. ;)

Actually, I dont thin either of them we fed your recipe before, but we have fed it to them a few times, and they just gobble it up, so I take that as a good thing...

As for breeding, the female we have is 9 months and the male is 8 months(I'm not sure if he is 8 or 10? I forget) but dont they have to be a year before they can breed? Or can you go on weight?

I think it is always better to wait until they are 12 mon. and the ideal weight as some will be larger at 7 mon. then 2 year old breeders but from what i have heard it is best not to breed them that early i can't wait to see the offspring of the pair you are putting together.

Thanks for confirming what Max and I thought. We have never put anyone together unless they are a year or older. But I had read somewhere that it was possible if they were over so much amount of weight, so I thought I would ask for clarification!

My female cresties don't get near a male until they're at least 18 months old, though the boys can be a year or so to mate. I'd rather wait a few months longer but at least I know the girls are old enough and matured, there's enough problems with egg production without being a young 'teenage mom'.

However, I still can't wait to see babies from that pair you have planned. When I said to hurry up and get babies from them, I was thinking more along the lines of making time fly faster. ;)

Oh I know and not to worry, it really just brought up the question I have been meaning to ask ;)

I said 6 months, and I am content to leave it at that... That would out her about 14 months of age and him around the same... and it gives them some time to get used to being together if it is off season... :)

I have only had girls 2+ years prior for breeding but this year I had a girl I got off Hilde as a juvie and she turned a year in Feb. She didn't meet any males. The others went off to see their boyfriend at a friends house. Unfortunately nothing happened and I have them back now. But hey, who knows, maybe they will be last layers like the rest of my crew this year. lol. Leos are just starting to hatch now and I have a ton of bearded eggs still with a few weeks for the first laid clutch to be ready for hatching. But I must have done something right this year, I got eggs from every single girl, only one had infertile eggs, and 2 have already double clutched in 2 months time. :D

I can't wait till my two younger girls are ready though. My older girl Sandy is the mother of the holdback from last year and Hilde has the male. Dang, I was stupid to part with him. lol, but I love Avery, she was the trade off. ;) I didn't actually plan on breeding them eithor, I was told they weren't related but I wasn't sure so I housed them separately but they were together before I got them and I got 4 eggs from Sandy after she was here, 2 bad and 2 good. I should have kept both babies but I traded one for a hognose.
Here is Sandy in the background and Ivy upfront, she hatched out unbelievably red and that was my reason for keeping her. Her sibling was just as sweet as her, would love to see how the sibling turned out! But I don't remember who took her and never heard from them since. :(

btw Hilde, do you still have that little male with no tail?
Here is the female with her mom, Sandy. I named her Ivy.

Can't wait to see what they produce for me in the future. Especially with Laura's little male. :D Cresteds are my favorite geckos after fat tails of course. :D and leos are right up there too. Man, herps are so addictive, I think I need to find a R.A.P (Reptiles Anonymous Program) :D Or a H.A.P.P.Y. (Herps Anonymous-Personally Program Yourself) O.k, so that last one is bad, just made it up on the spot, I guess I'm feeling yappy at the moment. lol

Here he is, I named him "Rascal" ;) wonder why, huh?

http://www.ssnakess.com/photopost/data/511/321mcrorg1-med.jpg

He's father to several orange fire babies, orange dalmatians, chocolate patternless and a few others I can't recall right now.

Ha! I thought it might be Rascal because of the name but wasn't sure. I'm glad he is doing so well for you. ;) He certainly was a sweetie. I just didn't have room for two males at the time, but boy did I regret it later. I'm glad he went to you though, at least I know he's in great hands. But now that I don't have anymore Chams I have a second nice big cage for the cresties. This is one of my cages on the inside.

aNd here are the two cages when they were first finished. One was prev. used for a veild, but is now cleaned and ready to go for a second colony of cresteds. ;)
Don't mind the background, this was before we did anything to the basement. ;)

And here are my girls. Avery is in the back left.
