Hi to all!
Here is my question, I live in Italy, country where you can find, in the wild, the lovely looking Elaphe Situla. It is against the law to capture or to breed these snakes here since there are so few in the wild and when they bread they only cluch 4/5 eggs.
I was wondering if it is a snake others have and what it's like to handle it!

Cheers

Situlas are beautiful snakes, I'd love to keep some of them. I don't believe there are any kept in Canada yet. I talked to one person in the U.S., who said they are extremely shy and innactive.

I don't have first hand experience with them, but a couple of days ago, I happened to read a short article on keeping European Colubrids

The article is in Reptile Hobbyist Vol. 1 No.3 "Keeping European Colubrids" by Peter Niebergall, page 70-74.

I can't recall which year that issue was printed, but it could easily be 4-6 years old (back in those days, the magazine didn't go by month/year, but Volume/issue number.

There are several fantastic pictures of E. situla, showing a very beautiful snake, which caught my attention as soon as I checked those pages.
