The company I work for just completed the glass floor at the Calgary Tower, and all of the trades were invited to get a sneak peak of the newest addition to the tower.

Pretty scary to think that a 1" piece of glass is between you and a really long dive.

Here are the pics. It opens on Friday to the public for those who are interested.

Damn I don't know if I could stand on it.... that would freak me right out!!!! maybe i'll find the courage to go check it out.... havn't been up there in years............

Those are my feet. I stood on it, but thie first step was the worst.... Definitly didn't jump right on to it

wow that is insane. I get an awful feeling just being up there leaning on the glass.
Only 1 inch thick!!!!!!!!!! that is insane, what is the glass covered with to insure it will not break?
How much weight can that glass handle?

Sorry for all the questions but thats just amazing I cannot wait till im back in calgary.


Lmfao if you could put a laser that triggers the sound of cracking glass anytime someone steps onto it. That should get some hearts going, or stop some one of the two.

thats the kind of stuff i LOOOOOOVE i so wish i could go up there, ill jump around on it if you told me to lol. awesome pictures of it too.

youd be able to drive a dump truk on that glass and not worry about it stressing.. 1" glass it REALLY thick.. lol..

what part of construction did your company do

We did all of the windows and the floor. We do glass and aluminum, and I think are the only glass company around that does anything special liek a glass floor, especially a glass floor that is 260m above ground...

I was the guy who fighured how much it was going to cost. No going out on scaffolding for me.. lol

On another note the forman didn't have a problem being on the scaffolding constructing it, but wouldn't go out on the glass once it was done..
