Hello everyone,
I'm getting my first snake soon :D and its a toss up between Rosy's or a Sand Boa, what would you reccomend? I've heard that corns make the "best" Beginner snakes but i'm up for something a little different ;)

Thanks a lot for the help.

Corns can make good snakes because of their ease of care and manageable size, but rosies and sandies are just as good, if not better (corns can range from nasty to super docile in temperament). Either a rosy or a kenyan would make an excellent choice (providing they are both feeding well before you aquire them, as they can sometime be tricky to get started, but once they are eating they usually don't look back). Can't go wrong with either one. Baby kenyans can be a little more nippier I find, and spend all their time burried beneath the substrate, whereas rosies like to climb and you will be able to see them in their cage more often. Both species are generally docile and easy to care for, it all boils down to which one appeals to you most :) Good luck with your decision

I'm with rosy as well, I love sandies though.

I would say Rosy's make a better beginner snake than corns for the simple fact that they are slower moving and easier to handle. I find Rosies to be cuter than kenyans, but of course that's just my opinion. They're very cool snakes.

I purchased a little rosy for each of my kids!

It was a great decision as these snakes are wonderful starter snakes.

Either way a new snake is a good snake! LOL

I vote for the sand boas. There are some beautiful flamming orange Kenyans that I have had the chance to obtain that I absolutely adore. They are fairly easy to care for, as well as they do not need to be watered often.
