View Full Version : Too big to digest

I recently went away for a week and had my parents feed my boa while i was gone. My boa, Madison, is still very young and I feed her large fuzzies/small hoppers. While I was gone though, my parents somehow got the fuzzies mixed up with my adult mice (even though the containers in the freezer were labeled) and fed Madison an adult mouse. I was worried at first, but seeing how she didn't regurgitate it, I thought it would be okay.

It's been a week now since I last fed her and the bulge from the mouse still hasn't moved. She hasn't digested the mouse yet and I'm getting really, really worried.

I soaked her in warm water and slightly raised the temperature in her enclosure but she still isn't looking better.

I'm worried beyond belief. Will she be okay? Should I just wait for her to pass the mouse or should I bring her to a vet? In the meantime, I've found a more reliable reptile-sitter, but I still need help. I want my baby to be okay!

Thanks for your time, and hopefully your help.

The bulge should go down in time the first time I fed mine a rat she had a bulge for awhile, it should pass.

Im pretty sure your little boa will be okay...boas are hardy snakes and while feeding it a larger food idem is not always best for your snake they can usually manage to pass it without regurgitating...In the wild snakes dont really pick and choose food items with such a small size difference...they just eat them...so just hang tight and im sure she will be okay...let us know how she does...
