SNOW hatchlings have arrived!! (pics)

Our first Snow hatchling arrived this morning (June 15/05), and what a little beauty she is! We are so excited to be working with this fine morph, it truly is unique.
She is a result of the pairing btwn Le Stat and Cookie.
There's still many Snow eggs incubating, and we should have every clutch hatching a couple weeks apart.

We may put up a few for sale towards the end of the year! Make sure to be on our waiting list.

I'm trying to figure out how to tell them apart since the co-doms aren't that common here yet.
Are those the super 'stay white' co-dom genetic snows from Linda or the line/selectively bred ones?

Nice Snow Sam :) They are the line breds, Hilde. I thought about bugging Sam for one until I realized that if I crossed them into the "Mack" Snow co-dom line.... I wouldn't be able to tell a line bred hatchling from a co-dom hatchling. :confused:

Yes, they are the line bred ones, I think that as baby's you can't tell the difference btwn the line bred vs. co-dom, you can check this by looking at those baby pics i posted and then check Linda's site in the Co-Dom Snow section, where she has pics of her hatchlings, they're basically the same, however, you can definently tell the difference btwn the two, (or maybe it's just me) when they become juvies/adults. The co-doms have a more jungle pattern to them while the line bred ones definently don't have any pattern, the co-doms also have quite a bit of yellow colouration to them, I'm not saying that the line bred ones don't, because there are some out there that do, however in my opinion the amount of yellow on them was less than the co-dom line.

Ahhh, indeed Sam. But, the pics you chose have a Superhypo Tang mommy... her hatchlings are destined to yellow...and have reduced pattern. Not all co-doms do :)

It's no secret that the big breeders are racing to an all white leo. The trick here will be to breed that reduced pattern (the SuperHypotang) into the Super Snow... the ultimate goal when working with Co-doms. Which is exactly why that first circle back you posted...is sold:D Here is how his pattern is "dropping out".. now at 20g for referrence.

Actually, my original question was meant to be how to tell the hatchlings and juvies apart, not the older ones. It wasn't meant to be a discussion to take away from the fun of your snow hatchling announcement. I know the 'first generation' mack snows, being het for co-dom snow turn somewhat yellow, and the line bred snows come in various degrees of yellowing. The 2nd step in the macks which are super-snows stay pure white with black spots but do they hatch out black and white or start off different and then go white? What I wondered was is there a way to tell them all apart when young? So, if I wanted to be sure I was getting a Mack snow or super snow, I'd have to make sure they were past the hatching stage or I could be fooled, right?

i like them with spots. if they were all white, they would just look the some of the blizzards.

also, why not breed the recessive patternless trait to the mack snows? it would speed things up a bit.
