quick question, she likes to musk when i pick her up, i have left her alone for a week, no hadling just to change water and newspaper, is this normal, also she shows no interest in eating at all. i try once a week, and its been 3 weeks since she last ate before i got her. is it normal for retic to enjoy live food istead of f/k, f/t
any help would be appreciated, its my first attempt at keeping a retic

The musking is normal. When they get older if not conditioned to handling, they can become big time voiders. Retics sometimes prefer live food. Is she cb or wc? WC retics can be a real pain in the ***.

i bought her from a private seller off ssnakess.com, i was told that she is cbb, i took her out today and like usual shes fine until she gets to that limilt and starts freaking out(trying to get away).
but shows no aggression never hisses(only when i try and feed her) no biting, no striking. are there any tricks to get tehm to eat.

You can try live if you want. Also chicken works well with pythons sometimes. You can always try droping in a live mouse when the room is entirely dark. Check to see if it's been eaten in an hour or so with a flash light.

I tried with a live small rat, after about an hour and a half she took it, i was so happy. now is it normal for a retic to be very agressive after they eat, i know about feeding mode, im talking about 3-4 hours after. i took everything out of the cage to feed her, when i went to put everything back all she wanted to do was strike, the glass the newspaperthe snake hook. i hope she takes fresh kill next time i dont like waiting.

i'm not an expert on retics but i know alot of snakes in general with strong feeding modes continue to strike alot even just after eating, they are still in feeding mode and she was probably still hungry. some snakes dont want to eat in their new home until they settle in but usually when they start eating again you wont have to keep using tricks. next time you might be able to drop a dead rat in there and she'll take it but its not for sure, you may have to keep feeding her in the dark a couple more times.
