View Full Version : Hornet Larvae Edible?

There was a hornet nest we got rid of today that was in our dog's doghouse, I saved the part with all the larvae in it and already separated them all, they sure look yummy :)

Are hornet larvae good to eat? I've seen shows where birds and monitors and mice and come to think of it lots of different types of animals eating the honey comb and larvae of different types of wasp/bee nests.

If I don't get a reply by the end of the day or if they start to die off I will feed them off and let you know how it goes. I'd imagine they get some good nutrition.

they are very good, full of nutrients and not much chitin. if you used any chemicals to take out the nest however, you cant use them cuz they're contaminated.

Yeah I fed them and my geckos loved them. My pickiest eater ate the most, I even removed her from the dish and put her on the other side of the tank so the others could have a chance, and she went back to them.
