Last year I recieved a large Common Boa from a local friend..the first week past and it was time to feed her..so I was getting a 3.5 pound rabbit ready in my kitchen then went to my livingroom where I had an 8 foot pure glass viewing tank set up with her in it..I reached in to grab her out and put her into a tupper...when BANG...She bit onto my arm constricted very tightly...I sat calm for about 5 minutes then thought id better do somthing before she decides to start swallowing....so I was spraying her with water and it didnt work...so I got a friend to grab the rabbit and bring right close to her head and nothing...finally I got him to grab a jug of water and pour it directly onto her face and she let go and then grabbed the rabbit right away...We all laughed and a lesson was learned...I forgot to mention she is about 8 feet long...shes a big girl...now I take all my snakes out and put them into containers before I start to defrost rodents...Thought id share...Cheers

this one isnt about geting bit by a big snake but kind of interesting...
a few years ago when i was in school, i was outside with some people who found a snake, i saw it wasnt any thing dangerous so i picked him up and a few minutes later he bit me and i let him go. we went back into the school where i started showing off my cute little blood spots and my teacher freakd out and forced me to go to the health room. they all started telling me (even though i had about 4 little tiny blood dots) that i was bitten by a copperhead. i tried to tell them i know ALOT about snakes but they didnt care. they called an ambulance even though nothing was wrong with me and this is about an hour later by the way, the guys from the hospital said i was ok but i should still go with them or my dad should take me to a doctor. i HATE hospitals so i told my dad to take me to the doc. i got a tetenis shot which was aweful and hurt forever and was then known as snake girl at school which was awesome. the end

i just re read every thing, ill also add that it was just a little brown water snake, about 2 hours or longer after the bite i had a fever of 102 degrees. and isnt it ALWAYS the persons fault when an animal bites them? i think so.

I Also made a feeding mistake with a 6' albino burm. I had thawed out a nice Jumbo rat for him and picked it up and slid open the door to his cage. By this time you can imagine how excited the burm is, a bucket of rats had be thawing next to the vent on his cage and I was in there with the lights off trust me they KNOW when its feeding time. Any way I was about 3 inches from the open door and realized his water bowl was empty, put down the rat and continued to reach into the cage to grab the water bowl so I could refill it. And then WHAM my hand made it about an inch into the cage and he was all over it, constricted all the way up my arm using his whole body. The pull was enough to pull me to the ground, and I sat there for about 5 - 10 minutes as still as I could my hand was throbbing and blood was all over him. I wanted to get a picture but it looked really bad so I dint dare call my girlfriend in to take it she would have freaked. Any way after I managed to stay still long enough he released his grip a bit, to see if the arm was “dead” and then let go to swallow, and I had my other hand ready to gram him as soon as he let go. Then put him back into the cage looking like a Beast since he had blood running out of him mouth and all down his head and neck. Not much damage was down to me, healed up nicely because I didn’t fight it. Any way theirs my STUPID mistake. I don’t know what I was thinking.

Entertaining stories, but I can see these being used for evil by people who want to ban snakes.

That’s true, but evil people who want to ban snakes will just make up stories, a story is just that. They could use a twisted version of something that actually happened or they can make it up all together. As long as there is a reptile hobby there will be ignorant people against it. My burm had no ill content clearly as my story shows I was completely stupid to put my had into a burms cage while in a feeding frenzy. And if some evil person's twisted version stops a kid from buying that cheap burm at a pet store, then all the more power to them.
