Not sure if this came up on this forum before, but was chatting with a friend from another forum who sent me a link to a really neat / weird Ball Python, not sure on its name, or if there is more of them. Let alone is this photo even real, I mean it looks like it is but its a very different Ball Python altogether.

I think this photo belongs to VPI.

Check that photo out, no heat pits, that ghostly colored head, and oh yeah where are all the scales?

Just weird I gotta find out more about these....anyone know anything on this?

Neat, looks photoshopped :D I doubt it's real. But a cool pic:)

They're calling it the Derma ball. My guess is that if it's real, it's a birth defect and not a genetic trait.

Maybe a new morph of scaleless snakes? I know they've been seen in both boas and ratsnakes, but the lack of heat pits throw me on this snake (can boas and pythons even BE crossed??).

I like the way the scales are missing along the back and not the sides... I wonder what the belly would look like. Either way (real or not), I think it's beautiful... in it's own unique way. :)

It is different alright, I haven't made my mind up about it if I like it or not, don't even know if it is real. Oh and spririt, go to the vpi site bragging section and you can get a good look at it's belly.

I have seen snakes with NO scales.....I think that this pic is valid, neat, but I hear scaleless snakes have UBER shed probs......

they must have a lot of other problems too. dont they need scales to regulate their temperature, and to protect them from the wear and tear of going around on their bellies? i thought that a snake's belly scales were essential to the "concertina" mode of locomotion. it doesnt seem right to intentionally breed for such a hideous deformity; if it survives, it should never be bred.

Weird... looks photoshopped to me also though....not saying it couldnt be real, but definitely seems off. I agree it shouldnt be bred.... look at the eyes on it... and what ABOUT the lack of heat pits.... Im still thinking photoshop.....
