Today we went to pick up some turtle doves and the cage they were in is way to big so we moved them into a smaller cage. The cage is 46" tall by 34" wide and 23" deep. What kind of herp can I put in it? At one of our local pet shops they have a cage the same size and it has a breeding pair of iggys in it. What are my options?

Too small for Iguana's IMHO. There's load of options, but dependant upon the type of cage. What is it built out of, etc. You have to take things such as possibility of escape through any ventilated areas, being able to maintain the adequate environmental conditions, etc. The structure of the cage has everythin gto do with it.

On a sidenote... how can a birdcage be too large for birds??? Even 4x3x2 doesn't give much room for flight.

its made out of wire, so anything that can fit through the wire will get out. The cage will be in a heated room eventually. The birds arnt very big and the cage they were in was to big. Their heads kept getting stuck in the bars, and we have their wings clipped so they cant fly.

Being that we do not know how big those spaces are, it is still hard to make any recommendations. Snakes are out for sure. You may be able to house certain chameleons in there however.

The gaps are about the size of your middle finger. What about some kind of monitor?
