any one kept or is keeping Chamaeleo Trioceros rudis before?

I currently keep Rudis althought the ones i have are acually Sternfeildi most rudis that are imported are acually sternfeildi

I have 2 WC females, and 25 babies they are my fave species quite amazing little chams,

they are pretty much the same as most chams asside from needing high humidity and cooler temps, and they are super shy not a cham that likes to be handeled at all.

hey collide, did you house them together? also how do you keep higher humidity? i am at buffalo new york, and it gets pretty dry during the winter month, even summer. I assume you hook up a humidifier or some sort to the cage?

I house the two adult females togeather they are fine, mind you they have a fairly big cage 2x2x4 and lots of sticks and cover. I think that a trio could be kept in that size cage as well (with a carfull eye for proplems) but gravid females would have to be removed. . I mist them 2 times a day but i have a humidifier going 24/7 ( not directly in the cage but in front of it to raise the humidity in the air, although id assume right in the cage would be much better), and i set up a driper every second dayish. Without this high humidity they have problems shedding and there colors are muted.

not very many info out there for rudis, but if you want to do more reasearch they are pretty much the same as bitaeniatus, ellioti, hoehnelii in there temps and requirements.

No chameleons should really be housed together, with the pygmies and jeuvenile chams being the exception.

Rudis are closely related to Jacksons and so I assume or also a montanous species requiring high humidity. I have not found humitiy to be a problem and I am located in Ontario, the same as Collide.

You can use a number of devices to help with humidity. You can use humidifiers, vapourizers, even a towel or plastic hanging over one or two sides of the cage will help. Just be sure to mist at least twice daily, preferably 3 times.

I would normally never suggest getting wc animals, however Rudis to my knowledge haven't been bred to any extent in Canada, and so wc is the only real choice. I know a guy/store that could import C. Rudis and they are very good with their chams and has much experience in the chameleon field. So just let me know and I can get you more information. Preferably by e-mail.
