Ok, I want to put Murtle (female, 3 years old) together with Seneca (male, 1.5 years old) in Murtles 20 gallon long. They are pretty similar in size. I plan to clean out and rearrange the tank, adding in some of seneca's cage furniture. My question is, have they been housed alone too long to get along together? I put Murtle with another male once before and she bullied him but I did not give them much time to get used to each other. I also only put them in an empty 10 gallon. She shook her tail at him and then bit his tail. We tried those two again in the Male's 10 gallon and they fought where the male bit Murtle on the face. I know that is not the optimum situation but I think Murtle could be hot. If anyone has advice for me on this one I could use it. THanks!

Sounds like they just needed more room. Make sure you have a lot of hides for them and try it out.

I'm going to do it over christmas since I will have several days off to monitor them. I'm still trying to decide if I should move seneca in first and let him get settled for a week and then add Murtle or if I should do it both together.

I would do them both at the same time, that way one doesn't get established and then see the other one as an intruder. Let them both explore their new surroundings at the same time.
