What would I have to do to get a permit to keep Gila's? Would it be easier to get a Beaded lizard?

You will have to look at your local by laws to see how they feel on keeping any venomous reptile. So long as venomous lizards are legal in your area, you can but a legally captive produced Gila and no additional permits are needed on your end. Your animal will come with paperwork showing it was legally produced and that will be all you need. If you are in the market, my friend at underground reptiles have some nice babies right now.

Oh yeah how much do people usually ask for Gila's?

If you have to ask those questions, you most likely have no buisiness owning one.....

But to answer your question, they go for a minimum of around $1200.00 USD each......

Did I say I was about to run out and buy a Gila? I don't remember doing so... maybe a very long-term idea, you know one of those "someday" things.
And if I don't ask questions, how am I ever going to learn anything? That's what this forum is for is for sharing things and ASKING QUESTIONS, what did I do wrong?

You yourself told me that the more we all learn, the better off this hobby would be. How can people learn without asking questions?

Dirty,
You did nothing wrong by asking questions. No such thing as a stupid question when seeking knowledge.
There are some precious personalities on the forum that need to be allowed for though.

You need to check the State regulations and local county and then local city laws as to what you may keep. Where exactly are you? There are certainly members here who might be able to help.

As to Prices. I have seen them from as low lately as 800$ each to as high as 2000$ it depends on who produced them and other factors.

Gregg those comments were NOT called for. I do not know the price of many animals and certainly can afford them but would still ask people that might work with them what the price or price range is.

Thanks guys.

I live in Utah. Here, as in any other state where Gila's live naturally, it is illegal to keep them without a permit. In a few years, I plan on moving to Arizona where the same laws (if not more strict) apply. When/IF the time ever comes, do I go apply for a permit with the fish and game? This is a pretty wild guess, but is that what needs to be done to obtain a permit?

My opinion is not uncalled for Scott......

Besides, dont you think it was alittle odd that he asked if a beaded would be easier??? Its one thing if you know exactly what you want, but why settle for a beaded if it is easier to obtain???? That has "impulse" written all over it.....

Also, I think if you knew enough to keep the animal, you would already have a pretty good idea on how to get the required permits if needed, and the general price range.....

Am I off here????

If you look at other posts here by the same person you can see why this tripped me alittle...... I dont think I was being mean..... I just said what was on my mind.....

So how do you find these things out on your own???? Its called research...... You know, something you do when you need to find stuff out...... I am not saying that asking questions is a bad thing..... But there are just some answers that are easily found without having your hand held.....

Yes, you are quite off Gregg. Read back a few posts and you will see my thread that says that I'M NOT GOING TO JUST RUN OUT AND BUY A GILA, so you can throw out your idea of this being an impulse. And you do not know me, so your prejudgement of me simply doesn't count. Your opinions are not uncalled for, but your assumptions, attitude, and prejudice is. As for the research thing I have done some research, it's not like I'm totally oblivious to these animals. Certain things like price and obtaining a permit are usually not covered (at least in anything I've read) in articles about Gila monsters. I never asked anybody to hold my hand, I asked a few simple questions that could have easily been answered WITHOUT your input.

Oh yeah and what do my other posts tell you? That I like to learn about venomous reptiles? That I know I'm not ready to own one yet? You try to make it sound like I'm some dumbass trying to buy hots and asking random questions without doing any research. This forum is for asking questions, no matter how experienced or inexperienced someone is.
