I have balls, that once they begin eating again after a fast, they eat like clockwork every week. My concern is that I have some that eat occasionally; not every week like the rest of mine. They may eat only once a month, and they are only about a year old. Is this common?
Thanks, Paul.
I have some like this, they are pains in the butts. Go with smaller food items at their feedings and it may help them get more regular. After fasting for a long period I offer smaller than usual items for them until they are eating every week to 2 weeks and then go back to normal meals. Also some of my males tentatively came out of their fast they took one rat in feb, one in march and then in mid april started eating normally going no more than 2 weeks between meals. I think it just takes a while for the digestive system to get going again.
I have one female that hadn't eaten since early Feb finally coaxed her into eating a live restrained mouse last night, hopefully now she will remember how good it is to eat!!

I have 2 males that have eaten 2 meals since soming out of their fast but haven't eaten in 3 weeks. One of my females suddenly stopped eating, hasn't eaten in 3 weeks either. As long as they are healthy and not loosing weight fast than I wouldn't worry. All we can do is offer them food every week or two and keep their husbantry perfect and they will eat when they are hungry. Oh and try not to pull all your hair out while you are waiting for them to eat :)
LMAO, all ball keepers end up bald or grey right!! Everyone keeps wondering why I dye my hair ;)

lol....last week in a post when some asked what our fav snake was. I said , "when your not smashing your head against the wall trying to get them to eat, balls are pretty cool.''
when the unsexed one eats, he/she will eat like a champ for a while then out of no where refuses a meal. then starts eating again like clock work. then totaly stops for the winter. my new
(female) one still hasn;t eaten yet, but i am used to it now. i just offer then wait two weeks, over and over.
