you should have done some reasearch before you got it.. hahaha, you posted this the day you got him.
My advice:
for future reference, read at least 20-25 SOLID hours of research before buying something again... I did that before I got my bearded dragon, it was hardly enough. Lol, research is more important than anything.

I agree with Dan on that point! Find out what you need for your pet, before you get your pet! Spiny Tailed Iguanas, well, Iguanas in general are not the easiest reptiles to keep and they are not a good beginner herp.
<Getting off the soapbox now>
I have answered all your questions in the chat already, but here it goes again:
Please feed your Spiny Tail a mixture of chopped up greens, fruit, and canned dog food on a daily basis. At good ratio would be 50% greens, 20% fruit and 30% dog food. Mix well, or the spiny tail will pick out his favorite food items and not get a balanced diet.
Use greens like collards, dandelion, bok choy. DO NOT use greens such as ice berg lettuce and romaine. They do not have have nutritional value for your pet. Good fruits to use are melons, strawberries, apple, grapes, mango.
Also make sure that your husbandry is correct.... do you have a UV light for the spiny tail? Is the enclosure hot enough? A place to climb? etc etc etc
If you haven't already PLEASE check out Melissa Kaplans site on Iguanas. http://www.anapsid.org
Cheers!

I do not mean to ruin anything, but he has a 100W bulb over one end of the enclosure (no other heating), and believes he can take him outside for 1/2 an hour a day to get his UV... in the beggining of winter... Dude, after you get a reptile, don't be asking things like "What does this eat?"... I believe the 100w bulb only gets it to the high 70's, low 80's on the BASKING spot...

I dont recommend dog food at all... The ash content and fat content is not good for the digestive tract of the ig. It's ok once and awhile but i wouldnt make a daily habbit out of it. Go with mealworms. (gutload them, and throw them into a bowl with fruits/veggies, they will blend in enough so the lizard grabs everything)

I have a question. I am thinking of getting a spiny tailed Iguana. I heard that u can feed it dog food. I was wondering if there is a certain type of dog food they can eat are if it doesn't matter.
