question on genetics and feeding

My two week old normal phase burm had clutchmates which were showing the albino trait. If my knowledge of genetics is correct these were the result of either a het to het breeding or albino to het breeding. So would the logical conclusion be that my male is het for albino? Also he hasn't fed since i got him two days ago and i've heard that's usually the case until after their first shed. Thanks in advance for your help....chris

That depends. If both parents were heterozygous for albino, there is a 66% chance that your snake is heterozygous. If one parent was heterozygous and the other albino, then you can assume that your snake is a heterozygote.

hets are also usualy alot lighter in color then the normal phase. Though you dont know for sure untill you prove it out.

just to expand a little bit on what thegino said:

if it was a het x het pairing 25% would be albinos 50 % would be Hets and the other 25% would be normals. So we can logically conclude that two thirds of the normal looking snakes would be Hets. the only way to know for sure would be to breed to another het when the time is right.

if it was an albon x het breeding, your snake is definately a het.
