After alot of thought for my new blood enclosure, i decided to go with.................a rubbermaid tub!!! I also decided to fill this tub with cypress mulch, and some sphagnum moss, i got the humidity at about 82%. The only problem i have with the enclosure is the temp. I have a heat pad covering a bit more than 1/2 the bottom, the suface temps are find but the air temperaure is a little cold at around 76 degrees, how can can i bring that up?

maybe lessen the dampness and cover some air holes... that way youll even out humidity but raise the heat....

I put my heat pad on the back of the rubbermaid that raised mine to what i needed

Hey Newblood,

A) What are your surface and air temps, hotside/coldside?
B) As Peter suggested, I would cover some of the air holes, depending on how many you have. In a 3ft long x 6" high x 16" wide rubbermaid, I put about 8 1/4" holes.
C) If you have any heat pad left on the end, put it up the side of the rubbermaid, this way you will get some radiant heat.

I would not recommend covering the air holes if you have moss in there. I had a blood get very sick from being on moss with inadequate ventilation.

hey thanks guys i had a small heat pad layin around, so i slapped that puppy on the back and it leveled out all the temps, i got 82 cold side and about 92 hot side. Im still tryin to keep the humidity a little lower i sprayed it like 4 days ago and its still at like 90%. I have 24 1/4 holes on each end so i dont think its the ventilation, its a 95 qt rubbermaid about 30LX20XW17H.If i cant get the groove in about a week im just goin back to paper towels, thanks alot guys

Leave it at 90%, thats fine. The only reason I would change it or really worry about it would be if the snake became sick.
