I always wanted to get a rotti, but I hunt so I went with a Chesapeak bay retriever, and after having one of these guys, I don't think I could ever go with another breed, they are just sooo great. One of a kind breed, they are also know as the rotties of the labs.

Chessies are great dogs.....My wife and I have 2 and wouldn't trade them for anything.
Rotties are gorgeous looking dogs as well though.

I love rotts, but I don't have one. My dog is a shepherd/min pin mix. We're thinking about adopting another dog. Probably another mutt, they're the best!

her name is Diva and she is our guard dog LOL nah.. she just guards the hill across the street like it's hers when other dogs come around quite comical!!!! oh and my brother has a purebred rotti he is so loyal and beautiful too

A shepherd/min pin mix?
I have a MinPin right now and have had shepherds before. There's no way I can even try to picture what your dog is like! Please tell me the father was a typically self confident MinPin and the shepherd mom happened to be a heavy sleeper who wouldn't wake up for anything. ;)
Any chance of posting a picture?

Actually, mom was the min pin. But it's not positive whether dad was a PB shepherd or a shepherd mix (which could have made him a bit smaller maybe?). Anyway, here's a pic. I think she's beautiful. :) And she's a very, very good dog too.

This is Cocoa. Most of her temperment comes from her shepherd genes. She acts like a herding dog in most ways. Eager to please, follows direction, sticks to you like glue, doesn't bark unless there is a good reason. She does play a little like a min pin, though. She has the cute little min pin hop when she plays, where she looks like a little deer. I love her so much!

i have a rotti/beagle cross.. not a good combo let me tell you...he is exactly like a rotti just miniturized with the full rotti strenght.. when he smells something the beagle part of him takes over and his brain shuts down so to him there is nothing in the world other than that smell... it gets kinda hard to walk him at that point cuz he just drags you around.. i got him from the spca after they rebuilt his scull and removed bone chips from his brain, and had to remove some of his extra skin on his forhead.. the previous owner caved in his scull and he still loves people except for one ethnic group in particular so i think it was one of them that did it..
my favourite types of dogs are rotti's and dobermans. two of the most beautiful dogs on the planet in my opinion.
I have an australian shepherd. Amazing dog.
No Rotti here, just a 13 year old Jack Russell terrier that doesn't show his age, and a 3 year old English Setter.

People definitely do. They are beautiful dogs, but they are not entry level dogs by any means, and need a confident, experienced, knowledgable owner to properly raise them. Unfortunately a [former] friend of mine fits in to that category. The dog can do all sorts of cute tricks, but in the end, he has no control over her and she has not been properly socialized, as well as all the 'training' she has had was full of mixed signals  I've had very few personal experiences with Rotti's, and its unfortunate that one of the few I remember is being bit in the face :(

i have a black lab/german shepard mix...and my mom has a Lhasa Apso(sp?)
I have a Pit X Rotti, and she is the sweetest, most loyal dog I have ever had. She absolutely loves people (anyone) and actually goes through separation anxiety when left alone. Her only down fall is that at 80 pounds of solid muscle her love sometimes hurts.

Ugh, I will post it later, have to resize it......
i currently have a Golden Doodle. yes laugh it up. its a golden retriever x poodle. well its acutally my moms dog, i would never pick a dog like that. but anyways, he is still a puppy, and he is the most well behaved dog i have ever sen, and im not exagerating. smart as a whip two, you only ever have to show him something two maybe three times and he will learn the command. definately got the brains of the poodle :) i find golden retrievers to be incredably stupid dogs, i mean they are loyal and will do what you ask, but lack common sense that most dogs have. we unofficially renamed my sisters golden retriever from Bo to Donkey
varanus69, thats horrible!! that poor dog, does he have brain damage?
I love rotties and german sheperds, I think I'd love a mix of one of them someday froma shelter. I have watched one really sweet rotti pup grow this past year in my building, adorable lil girl (well not so little now) with a really nice couple. Also a friend of mine has a rotti malimut cross that is huge with thick thick fur. Looks mostly rottie and what a power house! Still thinks he is a lap dog though!
And of course I have a little 14lb lhasa poo! lol, until I get a house with a yard I will stick to lil dogs, but a dog maybe about 30lbs would be nice. Widget, despite his size and breed is a very typical mutt. Happy go lucky, rolling in the dirt, hiking and swimming in the don river (which I make him avoid like the plaque... as it probably carries the plague!). Definatly a big dog in a little dogs body.
Lisa127, can I have your adorable pup? She looks like someone cut and pasted a different head on that body!

I've got a little terrier mix. Cairn x Yorki. But she looks mostly like a cairn, only her fur isn't as thick. She's a sweetheart, but has the terrier personality. Quite a handful! My bf chose her. Personally I would have preferred something bigger and a little (a lot!) less bouncy. But stupid strata put a limit on the height of our dog, so the bf got his way and I'll just have to wait. :(

I live with my mome and my sister however and these are the dogs we have at our house. the ugly one here is Teddy, she is a mutt we got from the spca. She is 13 years old
the cute little guy laying on top of her is Jake. He is our 17 week old puppy. he is a Golden Doodle :) lol he is a cross with a golden retriever and a standard poodle. He is the most well behaved puppy i have ever known. So smart he is.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v672/rb420/HPIM1028.jpg
And lastly is my sisters golden retriever, Bo. He is a lilttle dumb. but he is getting better and less annoying as he matures he is about 4 years old and is actually becoming a very good dog.

I have an airedale terrier, he just turned one year almost 2 weeks ago. Definately one of the most intelligent breeds i have ever worked with. Unfortunately, his intelligence is matched only by his stubborness. Great personality, always in a happy mood. I will try and get a pic up once i find some new photo hosting place. I fill my ssnakess account up soo fast!
Geoff
Well it was easier to find a host then i thought!
Here he is at his graduation last month!

Hi Geoff
Thanks, He will be socialized very well,I also own a female Cane Corso and 1 Bengal cat which he is growing up around.
Harold
I have 3.4 Tosa Inus (and co-own about another 1/2 dozen). A Tosa can be a very well adjusted dog if socialized properly. One of my previous puppies is a certified therapy dog with St. John Ambulance and regularly visits a local nursing home. Even an easy going Tosa is a serious dog though which any "macho" dog will quickly discover if they try to bully the Tosa. Here is a photo of my tri-color (black/red/white chest) female Tosa, Kuroi Mibojin (black widow). Some people had asked me in the past if she was some sort of Rottie/Mastiff cross as most people have never heard of a Tosa (or are familiar with their various colors).
