Wow, this forum is sure slow.
Now, I know, there is more BRB owners ( or other rainbow species ) out there. Where's every one hiding???
We need a Rainbow-a-thon.....
I'll start... What made you get your first BRB?
Hello, my name is Chris and I'm the owner of 2 BRB's. Promise, which was my second snake.... and an unnamed Male that is still in the nippy hatchling stage. Promise should have been named " Broken Promise".... as all "new" snake owners find out, I had promised she would be my last snake. Hence her name. It was a promise I could not keep, and have since expanded to getting her a partner, a male Colombian BCI, 8 cornsnakes ( 1 normal, 1 reverse Okeetee, 2 amels, 2 snows, 2 anery ).
What got me into BRB's: The delightful fellow, Simon Fung, after our first meeting ( I carpooled with him to a show ) invited me into his place and showed me his snakes. The corns were wonderful, and I got one to start. But my eyes were fixed on his one adult BRB female. She was "friendly" and gorgeous, the rainbow amazed me. He happened to have a couple youngsters that he got from Jeff Favelle. I came home, and started researching.... read all I could, posted questions, etc. Untill I was confident I could care for a BRB. Back to Simon's place, and this nippy lil female BRB came home with me.
She has since turned into this wonderful tempermented snake, who has been in my collection the longest. She is gorgeous, eats well ( 250gr rats every 2wks ) and is a snake that my kids can hold.
I decided that I wanted to experience breeding snakes. I do not plan on breeding for profit, but more the experience. I want to experience both egg laying and livebaring snakes. So Promise got herself a man at the St. Jacobs show in Oct/04.
I will only breed them once. There are enough wonderful BRB breeders out there, I am no competition. I know what I can, and can't do. And starting a full snake breeding plan is not something I can or want to do. So when the time comes, Promise and her little man, will hopefully fulfill me wanting to experience the live birthing. The babies of course will be sold, but if for some reason I can't sell all of them, I guess I will be the owner of more rainbows :)
