While the pictures aren't the best, I must admit, I am getting better! :) Anyhow, this is the second crested I purchased from Beth, who is showing no signs of being female yet (my fingers are crossed). These are daytime pictures and she colours up much nicer in the night, although she still looks decent in these photos. She/he wouldn't stay still, so between that and me shaking like a leaf, they all have a touch of blurryness :P. Opinions welcomed!

That's a good looking example of a tiger.
If you are really glad that I shared the fruit recipe, you could give him to me to show your appreciation. ;)

she is gorgeous. She looks big enough to be able to sex. my males were smaller when they started to be obvious.

Although I have my hopes up, I wont get too sure yet! You could have a 'female' for upwards of eight months and wake up to a male. I baught a seven month old 'female' from a friend, to have it turn male the week after! :( It happens, unfortunately.

I've noticed that males who don't show their wares yet quite often show themselves after a bit of stress. If I've got a possible male but not sure, just putting him beside a male enclosure for a day or so quite often does the trick. Any 'possible males' who don't sell at the show will be obvious a day or so later after they get back home - the stress of the day might have done it. One got away from me here at home, took about 3 hours to track him down. I didn't spend the whole time searching, but he was pretty stressed just looking for a place to hide. When I finally did find him, he was a male. :)

It's not uncommon for them to 'turn' in a short time. These links go to the GGA archives, some interesting observations about the silly-atus sex change:

(p.s. I'm guessing male for yours, Gino)

Really? Thats very interesting, thanks for sharing that information and those links! I am going to put this one beside a male now, just for fun ;). What makes you think this one is male Hilde? For curiosities sake.

I don't know how old yours is, so it might not work to get him to show his secret. I'm only guessing male because of 2 things - right now there's way more males than females, so the odds are in favour of this one being male. The other guess is the spurs. In any picture showing the side of his body where the tail base is visible, the spurs are easily visible. Female spurs are 'generally' smaller, making them less visible in random photos, you almost have to try to get them in the picture. Male spurs are 'generally' larger, easier to get in the picture. It's not at all guaranteed accurate, that's why I said I'm guessing. It is right often enough that I don't discount it, but it's not reliable enough to guarantee gender.

Hey, don't take my GUESS as gospel. I'm only using pictures, and like I said, it's not guaranteed accurate.
