I posted about how I was trying to rescue a crested gecko and a leopard gecko from one of my friends. Well, I got them today finally after weeks and weeks of trying. Let me just say, they are way worse than I thought they were going to be. I don't even know where to begin..

The crested - He barely moves and can't even hold his head up. His jaw is so awful that I literally cried when I say it and the rest of him. It is totally misaligned and stick out to the right. His tail is MAJORLY kinked. It's probably kinked in 4 or 5 different places. There is something wrong with his back also. There's kind of a big bump and it looks horrible. He has skin that he couldn't shed off on his toes. One of his front feet has toes that are dead and a dark brown color. He was living in utterly gross shavings that were probably never changed since they've had him (they all stuck to the bottom of the tank and I couldn't really get all of them off). His water bowl looked like a mini swamp. It had sooo much gunk stuck to it. When I washed it out he drank quite a bit. I fed him some baby food mixed with a lot of calcium and vitamins. I'm almost positive that he has MBD.

The leo - She most likely hasn't seen for who knows how long. She had tons of skin that she couldn't shed off her face and toes. She's missing quite a few toes also. When I took the skin off of her face she didn't open up her eyes for a while because she probably didn't think that she could. After I took it off she just keep licking her eyes over and over like it was a total relief to get it off. Her water bowl was empty but not as dirty as the crested's. She is so weak that at times she wouldn't even lower her head down low enough to drink the water and she was just licking air. She did drink a lot though when she did hit the water. Her tall has about 3 kinks in it also and if she didn't have those in her tail them her tail would probably be thin. Her stomach looks way too big and it hangs down when she's standing. I tried feeding her some mealworms and she went after it but it was too weak of an attempt. After that she wouldn't really look at it.

There are probably things that I'm forgetting since there's so much. I'm going to set up an appointment at the vets tomorrow but I'm most likely not going to be able to bring them in until next week :( . I'm really really really hoping that they might help me out a little since they're not mine and I'm rescuing them. Or maybe they could at least let me make payments. I don't know. Almost anything will help.

Most of the vets here are willing to finance your vet bills. Good luck. I don't understand how people can do that to animals.

No offense to you Jamie, but your "friends" are terrible people.

i agree.. i wish you the best.. and it sounds like the leo is impacted... i dont know what do do for leos.. but you should maybe stay away from mealies.. feed some silk worms.. there very nutricious.. also some wax worms.. there pretty fatty and can give herps the runs.. which if there impacted its not a bad thing... you might wanna wait till someone else replies to say wether my ideas are good or bad but i do wish you the best of luck...

Well, I was going to try and spend the money by bringing them to the vet and trying to get them better. But, I called and it would cost 45 dollars for each of them to just be examined. They said that I can surrender them to the animal hospital and they'll try to do everything that they can. So I'm going to do that. I know that they're going to euthanize the crested. He's just sooo far gone. The leo just might have a chance because she's still pretty active. But I don't know...

Thanks for trying to help peterm15.

So I ended up surrendering them to a local animal hospital friday morning. I wish I could know how they're doing but I had to sign a paper stating that I couldn't recieve any information once I hand them over. I guess one of the vets there has a bunch of reptiles at her home so she knows what she's doing. I feel better knowing that but I still wish I know what was going on :(.

I know that the ball pythons and iguana still don't have heat sources. I don't see the iguana much because she likes to sleep behind/underneath their couch. I don't know what's going to happen to them.. :(.

ok seriosly, if i didn't just get layed off of my job. i would buy a heat pad or something and mail it to you for that poor lil BP. as for the iguanna, well i don't know hat they need as a heat source, but if i get this job i am applying for, i will seriously donate a lil bit to that as well. i hate to see animals suffer

The thing that I'm worried about is that even if I did buy a heating pad for the BPs, they wouldn't use it. It would take two seconds to set it up just like how it would have took a few minutes to feed, change water, and clean the gecko's cages. But obviously that was too difficult for them. I just don't know what to do with them..

call animal control or spca, or what ever you have down their in main. please. no animal deserves to live like that. and any one who refuses so strongly to listen to your advice about the well being of their animals can't be THAT much of a friend, please do something.
