View Full Version : whats your favorite snake?
i thought this might be a cool thread, hope it hasn't been done before, if so, oops.
for those who would like to contribute, just tell us what your favorite snake is and a small description of why.
thought this would also help me and any one else with the decision of what snake they should get next or sometime in the future. i'll go first...
my favorite snakes are bci's, colombian red tails can get huge but are generaly at a handleable size and if your worried about having one get too big, males almost never get much over 6 feet. its pretty rare to find agressive bcis, usually very young ones are shy and might bite a few times but they grow out of it with proper handling. but they can have their bad moods just like any other animal, they really like to be left alone when in shed and can get pretty crazy when they get hungry. so basicaly when they start to get cloudy try not to handle them as much as you can until after they shed and if you know they are hungry, be prepared to have them strike at you. humidity doesn't need to be very high, they dont really need any thing other than a water bowl and a comfy hide box. small snakes will climb but they usually grow out of it (though older snakes will climb sometimes if it is given to them) they are usually gentle and sweet snakes and id say they are good to get after you'v had a beginner snake or two.

i think my favorite snake would either have to be BCI or Burmese Python...
the BCI because there so docile and friendly,
and the burm because they are so beautiful!

Jess absolutly Loves ball pythons, I love our burms. Both of us combined love carpet pythons. All three species are wonderful and have very docile temperments. And with the color mutations available, it just opens up so many more doors.
I also love White lipped pythons because they are beautiful and challenge my abilities.

hmmmm...this is a tough one. There are so many I like. IMO, the most beautiful and most colorful is the Rhino Viper....some dude posted pics of his here...Rhino Viper (http://www.bobclark.com/bcforums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=24775&FORUM_ID=11&CAT_ID=1&Topic_Title=Rhinoceros+viper+part+2%3A+more+pictur es&Forum_Title=Picture+Forum)
As far as giants go....Bateaters are wicked cool, but I just love the Purple phase Albino Retics.

I would have to say BCI's are one of my most favorite snakes . They have a great temperment and are big but not to big . I also love reticulated pythons .

I have to go with the anthill python. All the tiny cuteness of a juvie python, with the calm temperment of an adult.

i am also a big bc fan. size, strength, and incredibly variable beauty. no two look alike! i am especially into argy, particularly the very black, hi-contrast ones, like my pair.

bcis are some of the most popular snakes in the pet trade (corns are the most popular). jcps are very cool snakes; looking at what you already have, i say you could handle it. and youll see them morre than you bps.
Emerald Tree Boas....especially of the amazon basin

For me it would have to be the Green Tree Python. They are amazing animals, with their Ontogenic Color Change and their fiesty temperment. These guys are totally addicting.

I know im wierd but my favorite snakes are the amazon tree boas .
They are pretty aggressiv and a good challenge to make em tame but they are soo good looking . Long and slender , medium sized and come in so many colors .
There are so many reasons why i love them but they are the greatest :)

Mk-ultra, no weirdness at all on that decision, amazons are definately sweeeeeet snakes. Forgot to say that I love green anacondas as well, nothing to do with the size, but the colouration is what I like about them.

for looks - ETB the basins with that white stripe is amazing
for temperment - bci's are up there, and when your not slaming your head on the wall trying to get balls to eat they are pretty cool to
