Worried about new jungle......

i just got a new jungle, well 3 weeks ago,
he has hardly moved at all, wont come out of his hide,
he is a yearling, and as none of our other pythons have done this i am a bit worried?

Have you succesfully made him eat yet?

Id check over all of his husbandry from humidity to hide spots to warm and cool spots and so on .. If e is eating, I find neonates tend to hide.. altough jungles tend to like perching and showing off a bit...

Check everything .. maybe the cage is also too big ... not enough foliage fro protection .. pic?

cage temp seems to be fine,he is a yearling, and pics will have to wait til i find my way round the site, sorry... had the vet out, he seems to think it is a wild caught jungle, as we are not allowed to do that over here, i am a bit worried...has 3 hides , 1 at each level, cool, warm, hot, plenty of branches, and has eaten once, 3 third day in new home...

U should not be looking at a smaller cage but a small container ..

hi guys,
at this time he is just under 5 ft, we have some pretty big containers, but not that big.... and Cairns is a fair way away...
so i'll just have to try putting him in a smaller cage,
would giving him more time in this one hurt him?
it is has ... a false bottom.. which is the cool part, the next level is acsessed by a branch that goes thro a hole, the branch then continues higher, to get to the basking spot...

a small cage is fine then .. also if its only been two weeks and a hlf sice it last fed, it really is not that much too worry about .. give him time to relax and unstress and it will eat in time

heheh, not very good at explaining things on the net yet,
and he seems very big.....ans someone in chat said they are not a very active python, but i also was under the impression that they liked to climb...

they are arboreal .. actually u said he was a yearling in your original post .. a 5 ft jungle is an adult .. sorry fo the confusion...

All my 3 jungles are fairly active actually .. just my oppinion though

He is supposed to be a yearling, well thats how we bought him,
but i believe he is a lot older than that , and he has given no indication of climbing yet, i'm just hoping that all is ok with him,
will give him more time..

Since you've only had him for a few weeks, he just may need a little more time to settle in. Have you been handling him much? Different snakes need different amounts of time to get settled, even within the same species, so I'd give him a little more time before getting too worried.

I would also make sure he has plenty of hides and/or maybe some fake vegetation on his branches to make him feel comfortable - not so "out in the open", ya know?

Like everyone else said, 2.5 weeks w/o food for a 5ft snake is nothing.. I'd think you should have him on a 10-14 day feeding schedule anyway at that size (assuming he's a good healthy weight).

He seems to be a good weight, and as for leaves and branches,and hides, he actually has quite a few in each level,
he just hasn't shown any interest in anything, as at this stage he has only been handled once, in the three weeks we have had him,
an that was so the vet could check him out,
will just leave him for a few more weeks and see what happens,

the young one concerned surfaced today,
and he is every bit as lovely as i thought....
