i was thinking of getting a pair of milk for my girl friend,so she could have her little project!!!!she really loves these guys,so my questions is how are there temperments, how big do they get,how easy are they to care for and which ones any one would recomend getting?ThX CoReY
Hi Corey, there are many great milks out there, unfortunately only a few in Canada, all of them make great captives, they range in size from around 2ft to 6ft plus, smaller ones being the Scarlet King(actually a milk) to larger ones being black milks and hondurans, all of them will calm down with regular handling, most are pretty good feeders, and for the most part there care is similar to Corn snakes. After you decide on a specific animal let us know Im sure you will recieve more specific results to the species your interested in... good luck and good choice!

Hi Corey, I currently work with 9 sub-species of miksnake. Feel free to drop me a line or check out my website if you wish.

I love the milk and king snakes - my fav milk is the sinaloan, because the colours are incredible and they tend to keep their colour throughout their lives, where as many others do fade.
They are easy to keep and generally good feeders - but they must be housed seperately as one will eat the other. The female needs to be aged about three to be mature enough to breed, the male can be younger, although three is a good age for them too.
Handling - they need regular handling to calm them down - initially they can be a bit jerky and they are renowned for pooing on their owners! They do calm down though - and are rarely aggressive.
And one final good point - they don't get big enough for a bite to do much damage (doesn't even hurt really) - impotant if you end up having kids around.
Good luck
