instead of deleting every other post on these forums, why not just lock them and let them die, at least that doesn't leave people scratching their heads wondering where the hell they went

Montie you'll have to give a real specific example. If its a major content issue obviously its not going to stay. If its an infraction of the Terms of Service....again, its not likely to be kept up. If its a personal attack...again, its going to be removed. If perhaps something is moved and its your thread thats been removed, you should be getting a private message from the mod who moved it.......unless your like several of the members here who have a full pm message box ( and yes there is a limit ppl), then perhaps this is why your not getting the big picture. No threads are deleted, all threads are kept in a special forum that only admin etc can view. If you have a real specific example that you can give me, perhaps i can help you out. Make sense? Feel free to pm me, or you and i can discuss this here if you would like :)

Its funny I'm on here everyday and no pm's were in my inbox for the longest time, then all of a sudden (as soon as a mod sends something) I had 8. Maybe there wouldn't be so many people with full inboxes if they knew? Just a comment take it how you will.

Yeah we have discovered the full inbox problem lately and we are working on something to correct it. At this point looks like we will probably just do a mass thread to gain everyones attention as to why they can't get pm's....from there on out if it continues im not sure what the plan is....it may come down to emptying them for you.

theweezel, im not sure what getting 8 at a time would have to do with the mods??? It should flag you instantly each time you get one unless that feature is turned off on your profile....some ppl opt not to have it flag you when you have a pm when they register, maybe yours is set up like that? If so you can change it.

Peterm15: Im actually looking to deal with a problem mentioned directly from montie420. If you have a seperate issue by all means pm me. If its over a thread of yours that was moved...make sure you read what the mod who removed yours wrote.....keep in mind the terms of service, remember that mods make judgement calls where they sit fit as to how they interprit the tos.....and if you still have a problem...then ill be waiting to hear from you. :)

While you're at it, why don't you do something about the problem of many users, including myself, not being able to reply to our own classified ads when we have updates?

im really not to sure whos problem but i was involved in the conversation and when i looked for the threads later on ( both in 1 week) they werent there.. so maybe something was said that i missed.... ill let author of the thread bring it up if they want...

but can i suggest something.. if a thread is in any way not obeying the rules and should be taken down... what about just locking it so it cannot be read but the heading can be seen.. like when you click on a certian thread and it says your not autherised to view this... that way ppl would know that it has been closed... i found myself spending like 20 min searching for the thread that had been deleted

Guys, i thank you for the replies. Invictus, the classified section is being discussed behind the scenes right now. We are looking at lots and lots of different ways to repair that entire system. Its going to be a mix up until we can decide how to do it better. Your complaint is not the only one with it.....the question of where ppl live that are advertising, and how to get in contact with them is also a big issue that we are working on to create a better system. It blows my mind that ppl advertise stuff....want to sell it...yet leave no contact or geographical information!!!

Peter. When you see those threads that come up saying you cannot view them, they are actually already in a part of the site that you cannot see....that's why they say that.....im assuming your talking about stuff you see titles on the main page. Unfortunately the software doesn't allow us to block those threads individually while leaving them in the main forums. It can be done....but the tricky part is that it has to be done on the admin side of the software. Mods have a limited access to that sort of thing....and its actually done with good reason. The admin screens are really what makes the entire site tick. Screw that up and the whole board could go down....so access is limited to just a select few. As for having SuperMods and Admin take care of this...well its a question of bodies. It would require quite alot of effort as not everyone is always available. For a thread to be removed it has to be of considerable disregard to the TOS. On our sister site i actually have been known to edit language where i see fit. I will always leave a note in that particular post that it was edited due to content. We have tried that here as well, yet ppl still have a problem no matter which way we go. Locking a thread so that you cannot see it, only the title is an interesting action. However, its actually already happening this way. If i were to lock a thread right now, it will actually stay on the main page until enough responses to other threads force that particular one to the bottom and off the page.....make sense??? Its just that the post rate here is so high that it normally only takes minutes for it to work itself out. More questions...please feel free to get them out, i think with good debate like this your ideas may help us solve some problems. Thanks again :)

ok thanks for clearing that up... some things just seem to be senselessly deleted where things were in a proper manour, no language problems namecalling etc. etc.. i just dont see why they were deleted... once again, unless i missed something

now when it comes to censorship for content... im all for that.. as long as there is a " * edited for content thing" in that kind of a monour it is great and it has been easing up here a little to the point of being a fair site, the first week there was alot of kinks to work out.....

but thank you for clearing everything up..
