hey bros i went out today for a trial run in one of our state parks in Ky, temp was 75. didn't see jack but the weather was nice and i really felt i was in the perfect spot. fallen trees and a creek with nice size rocks on the hillside. i really don't understand why i didn't see anything maybe just timing. i'm going to searching all summer long for some N. copperheads to add to my breeding program that i've just started( i've got 1.1 S. copperheads now). anyway anybody got any tips for herping in Kentucky my only targets are coppers and maybe timbers but they seem to be very rear around here.

should i stick to the deep woods or head for a more cludder area with lots of junk to look under?

sorry i dont have an answer to your question but i too am interested in finding a few N. copperheads this summer. i dont plan on keeping them or anything i just want to see a few in the wild.

i would also like to know what kind of habitat they prefer. (forest, field, etc.)

You really should keep looking in the deep woolded areas. The best time is to go out early morning when they are trying to get some sun. Or evening time under logs and on the roads.

PS. Good luck on the breeding project.

Thanks, Josh
