Dammmn!!!... that is a "good luck Monday". Congratulations Sean! I had a "sh*t luck Friday".... my Tosa litter turned out to be 1 stillborn pup. I have a 2nd litter due next month but this female is looking big already so hopefully there are good #'s in that litter so I can afford a few more snakes.

Been running ragged trying to get everything figured out and organized today….

Ken, we had a total of 21 babies - 7 sunglows, 5 salmons, 2 albinos, 7 normal. : )

Pat, that really sucks!!! 1 stillborn pup? That must have been a bad sight. : (

I hope the other pup(s) does alright…I really loved that one I saw, that guy was HUGE!!!! Man, one awesome, powerful looking dog, and you mentioned they get bigger than that too! Unreal.

There were no other pups in the litter (just the dead one). I wasn't too upset. It was an unplanned breeding. A young male had broken free and tied up with a female. I broke the tie quickly and had hoped that she would not get pregnant as I plan each breeding carefully and this one was not in my plans so things worked out in the end. The next litter (female currently pregnant) is one that I have been looking forward to for awhile. She is the daughter of a 182lbs import from Japan.

Here's one of the BIG BOYS (from my breeding program).... Toshi's Heyha Gashira @ 4 years old and 188lbs in shape (can easily run 8-10 miles and wants to keep going).

Hi
They are great with kids, but with any large dog they should be supervised,My Tosa and my 7 yr old are the best of friends.

Sean,
Tosas are great with kids (& people in general) but play (as with any large dog) should be supervised as a big, clumsy puppy can inadvertently knock over a small child. I have placed many Tosas with families including children of all ages and have had nothing but positive feedback. The females tend to be very "motherly" with smaller children and lookout for them as if they were caring for one of their pups. As Bishamon had stated, the Tosa's dominance is with other large dogs which act aggressively towards the Tosa and try to threaten it's position as "top dog" (much to the other dog's dismay).

hey i hate to talk about snakes on a dog thread :P but how exactly do you produce sunglows, a salmon to a albino?

Hey Toshi I breed staffordshire bull terriers my self and those are some impressive dog's you've got there. Quality.

montie420: You would breed a Albino to a Salmon, all the salmon looking babys are 100% Double het sun glows. Breed the baby salmons together and you will have sun glow boas, in essence a sun glow is just and albino salmon boa.

thanks, salmon is a co dom trait am i correct? i think i have a good understanding of simple recesive traits, but i haven't really got into co dominant traits. im gonna go do some research, cuz i would really love to produces these myself someday. any helpful links on co doms would be helpful thanks.

ReptiZone

I dont know of any links but I do know that co dom traits are pased on in the first generation meaning if you breed a salmon to a regular boa you will still see salmon boas in the litter whereas in resecive traits you will only see the gean in the secound generation. Albino to regular produce hets so you need to rais the hets and re-breed this way you will have baby albinos.

Another thing about co dom traits is that if you breed a salmon to a regular some babys will be salmon and somwill be regular well the regular ones are not het salmon they are just regular boas.

I hope this helps.
