My dad found this and just took a couple pictures, but he wasn't sure exactly *what* sort he is... The pics arn't very good... so bear with me.

(we're in East Central Kansas, just south of Topeka.)

Awsome little snake. It's a massasauga, and if it's from Kansas then that would make it a Western one, Sistrurus catenatus tergeminus.

Not very big, only about a foot, foot and half long, and yeap, he was let go right after we got the pictures. :)
