Seeing red - twice?

This 1 month old crestie hatched out dark mahogany brown. She/he has been getting redder every day, not just with each shed.

that little guy is a beaut!! Looks similar to the little ones I had hatch this past summer. They seemed to have darken a bit as they aged, but not much. Congrats.

That one is a really nice colour!
What do his parents look like? Can you post some pics of them? I'm wondering how my Red Ridinghood managed to be so bright, when her parents never produced another one even close to that colour. Her mom is reddish brown/rust and her dad is more 'blah dull' tan.

I know cresties are polymorphic, you never know what you get, but there is some influence from the parents. What I'm trying to figure out is just how much influence there is, and how the next generation really decides what to look like. Isn't genetics just wonderfully confusing?
