I acquired my bp from a kid who had NO IDEA what he was doing, and when i got him, he was really thin, and his color was very dull. since then, he is back to a good weight, his colors are brighter, but he has cracks across his eyes. they dont get any better when he sheds, i keep the humidity up, an i use a vitamin spray mist once or twice a day, i have had him almost 2 years, and they are not going away. his vison seems greatly impared because of it, he has struch waaayyyyy off when he goes for a rat. he also startles very easily. i dont know what they are or what i can do about them, or if my little guy is stuck with them forever.

he wont let me get close enough to get a good pic, unless i was to grab his head, which i dont want to do, cause it really freaks him out, once i had to because his eyecaps would not come off, so i soaked him for a loooong time in warm water, but they still didnt, so i had to hold him and use a q-tip to get them off. the reason is because that was how the kid used to always hold him, was by the head. watched too many nature shows or something, little moron. its also the parents fault, the kid was like 14, and had no clue.

What you have to do is set him up in something and wait until he thinks you are no longer there. Accomplishing this may require you to sit still for about 3 minutes, so it shouldn't be that tough.

LOL sunset! OMG!! Sounds like a pretty strange child if he cant even take care of a snake at age 14! LOL! I am only 13 and I have 3 well taken care of snakes!! With the help of my mom, of course.......lol! Anyways. My ball python has that too though, I cant figure out what it is, but I heard to soak his eyes with a Q tip like once a day cuz his eyes might be dry. I dunno.

Im not a big kid fan, my nephew for one, who was raised with dogs and knows the basic commands for such things as sit, lie down, shake hands etc, decided that the first time he met my dog it would be a good ideato make him sit by pulling downward on his tail, instead f just saying "sit". I had only had my dog for about 2 monthes and was very upset that I nearly had to get his tail amputated because of the damage. Luckily with some drugs and a chiropractor the tail stayed, but the vet said if my nephew had pulled just a bit stronger it would ahve been bye bye tail. Your story is another one to add to the list of why animals should always be treated as a "use with caution and adult supervision only" sort of thing.

When it comes to people and pets, age is not the issue...I once talked to a 22 year-old who fed her Redtail live rabbits and reused to stop. At the same time, I bought my first corn from a sixteen-year-old who was breeding corns, working on breeding pythons and using all the money he raised from his breeding programs to go to Australia his senior year in school and photograph wild pythons.

thats really cool, it really does just all depend on the person. i know i wasnt that responsible when i was 16.:w

yea i started with snakes when i was like (i'm guessing) around 7 or 8 and my mom just had to show me that my snake (a glass snake) wouldn't hurt me. Then once i held it for an hour or so we went to the library and i did everything exactly by the books i read :) that little sucker lived forever.
