i have a 20 gallon tank that i want to keep my rosy boa in, i've cleaned it twice already with normal hand soap and hot water, but the smell of rodent feces (friend used it to house mice for his snakes) still has not left the tank. what kind of cleaning solution can i use to clean the tank that will rid it of the smell, and not be harmful to the snake when i put him in it later on.
any 'home made' suggestions?

I have used vinegar with no problems in the past...just let it air out before introducing the animal.
I have also heard of success stories using orange peels.

Water and vinegar solution works good.
Bleach and water solution works well.
Nix and water solution works good too.

I've actually also used nix as a cleaning solution. It's quite amazing!

I use Novalsan (Chlorhexidine) almost exclusively as my cage cleaner.

Ken, I use a diluted Nix solution exclusively for cleaning out all my snake AND rat bins. Gets everything really clean, smells better than most products, with the added benefit of mite-protection thrown in. You can't go wrong.
