Anyone see this movie yet? I've seen it twice already and LOVED it. Very visually appealing, very violent, somewhat humourous, and did I mention violent? I can't say enough about this movie. I'll admit it's not for everyone, but I think for fans of the comic, it definately did the GN's justice. Mickey Rourke was by far the greatest character. And for those who hate Elijah Woods, this is the perfect movie, he gets completely mutilated!!
ANYWAY, what did anyone else think of the movie so far????

I absolutely loved the movie. Marv was my favourite. Thats one of the few movies i would actually pay to see in theatre again ( i think i have only ever done that once or twice before). fantastic movie, everyone should see it

I'm going to see this with some friends on Thursday, and I'm so excited, I am almost giddy. So I will stop reading this thread just in case people give away too much. :)

I agree. Haven't seen a movie that good in years - I was literally sitting on the edge of my seat from my excitement. The girlfriend even enjoyed the movie, even accounting her illness.

I'm anticipating seeing this movie whenever I can find someone to go with... I miss having someone that is willing to go out with me as long as I feed him. Maybe I can try to recruit a new friend to replace him, if he decides not to come back.
And now that I know it is just not all critical hype, and that it's actually a good movie, I'm even more excited to see it.

I'm hoping to see it this week also- big fan of the graphic novels. There was a nice article in Wired magazine about the digital production of the movie.

On a side note- I'm trying to picture Invictus "giddy".

Was a fantastic movie, like watching a graphic novel unfold on the screen. Nothing like what is usually done when turning a comic into a movie. Definately on the must buy list.

FANTASTIC movie. One of the best movies I've ever seen, and I love movies and see a lot of them. When I think back and try to remember scenes, I don't see them as live-action, I see them as comic book strips...it's kind of weird; that's how good of a job they did.

GREAT cinematography, awesome characters, sweet storylines, and always something going on, it's just non-stop. Gets a 10/10 in my books, and I highly recommend it.

i love the little things in the movie. like that the priest was frank miller (the creator of the comic), and that all the villans and enemies had bright coloured eyes, and that the yellow guy turned out to be a physical monster because of the monsterous thing he did, and smelled as sickly as his mind was.

::::movie giving away alert::::
and that when marv looked at goldie she had blond hair, and when he saw her sister she had blonde hair until he found out it wasn't goldie, then she became like everyone else with no colour. but when he was in prison, when she first walked in, she was blonde because he was confused, then she turned to no colour again.

i love the thought that went into this movie...

It was the best freakin movie I've seen since Saw. THAT was a cool movie. Who was Elijah Woods in the movie? I didn't recognize him. Was he that cannibal that never talked?

Yes he was. I just saw it tonight. Wow it was a one of a kind movie I really liked it. Except I wanted the sleasy senetor to get his. I can't wait to see it again. If I had more cash I would see it in theater again.

Well, I saw it, and I have never been more blown away by a movie. I absolutely LOVED this film, I am going to go see it MANY more times in the theatre, and I just absolutely can't say enough about it. Best movie I've seen since The Crow, which is still my favorite movie of all time, and that will likely never change - but Sin City may tie it. :)

Emilsmee - I totally did not notice that thing with Goldie's colors, but now that you mentioned it, WOW! GENIUS!

I give it a 3 out of 5. But it was much like Rodriguez's ....Mexico A lot of style, a lot of flash, but no substance. If this movie was made in the 80's, I could see it being an instant classic. But in 2005? It was meager at best.

It was cool, but it was "music-video" cool. And I can watch that for free on MM or MTV everyday, anyday.

3 storylines in the same town, but only once did they cross patchs (when Hartigan first finds Jessica Alba dancing and Rourke's character turns around). It would have been cooler and much more interesting if it was done like in GO or in parts of Pulp Fiction where the storylines are not necessarily connected, but at least they intersect in time and space, especially given they are happening in the same city.

I give it a not bad. Disappointed, but that's because of the hype. Actually the hi-light of the movie was the trailers (coming attractions). Star Wars III, War of the Worlds and a creepy one "House of Wax". 2005 is going to ROCK for movies. I hope they fair better than this one.

I am going to see this AGAIN this week though. Perhaps in the 2nd viewing I'll get more out of it. I hope so. This movie reminded me so much of Once Upon a Time in Mexico. And that's not a good thing.

yeah i got way more out of it the second time. being an artist, i love movies that are visually appealing, and this was the best i've seen in a visual sense in a long time. it kind of reminded me of **** tracy in that cool comic bookish 50's gagster kinda way.

jeff you suprise me! i can't believe anyone is going to go see house of wax. it looks sooooo lame.
but war of the worlds (i LOVE h.g. wells!! they did the 'time machine' no justice whatsoever) and the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy looks awesome...star wars too, i guess. lol.

Yeah, but Paris Hilton and Elisha Cuthbert are in it, so I'll have to at LEAST rent the Wax movie.

I admit it was cool and stylish, but so is a Spike Jonze music video. I was just hoping for more. Also, I'm a HUGE Rourke fan, so he kind of added another star on what maybe have been a 2/5 rating for me. Want a cool Rourke movie, check out "Barfly". very cool. Also he had a cameo in "The Pledge" (the other movie he was in with Del Toro).....now, how does that relate to Kevin Bacon..........?

LOL!

LOL, Jeff I was just going to say the only reason anyone would see House of Wax is because it has Paris Hilton. I was quite disgusted to see her on the cover of Teen Tribute, yeah, we want her as a roll model for the teens. What is her motto for life, "be dumb, blonde, sleep with everyone and you can have everything in life". I hate the woman, if you can call her that, and I hate that all the little 12 + kids are dressed like her.

Jeff_Favelle
04-10-05, 12:09 PM
Its not Paris' fault that kids at 12 dress like that. That responsibility falls back on to the parents that either let them or are absent.

But I agree. She's the dumbest of the dumb and its quite a shame that she's a role model in the slightest.

EWWWWWWWW paris hilton!!!!!! did anyone see the south park with her? it was HILARIOUS! she had a ***** off with mr.slave...
i still think the best movie with rourke is 'harley davidson and the marlboro man' (well other than sin city).

WOOO SIN CITY, not sure what to say that any one else has but i love it alot and can't wait to buy it.

oh and that yellow guy, scariest thing iv seen in like a REALLY long time, i'm going to have nightmares about him.

Jeff_Favelle
04-10-05, 09:51 PM
What's even scarier is that the yellow guy could fins work after Terminator 3. What's even scarier than THAT, is that I saw Terminator 3.

emilsmee
04-10-05, 10:37 PM
yeah terminator 3 hurt me right in the feelings... arnie shouldn't be allowed to think for himself when choosing roles for movies.
