Wood crach filler

Hey, Everyone
I'm almost finished my cage Im just working on sprucing up the out side. And looking for sterilized play sand.
Well I was wondering if I could use wood crack filler?(on the outside of the cage)

I'm not sure about what effects (if any) that might have, but if I were you, I would go with silicone sealant.

I actually found some aquarium silicone.
