hey i just bought a heatpad from target and it has different heat settings which are
Warm
Low
Medium
High
I was wondering what i should use because this is my first time using a heatpad ment for humans i was guessing low?
i still have a night time heat bulb on the cage but the cage is tall and i don't think it is heating it enough..

Well a human heating pad is not ment for use for undertank heat. The majority of the new ones have auto shut offs on them every 2 hours since they have the problem of over heating especially when compressed under a cage.. Flexwatt or something similiar is what you need...

yea it didn't have a auto shut off but i just took it back and got a reptile heating pad

Watch the temps on the reptile heat pad... They usually need a rheostat or thermostat to control the temperature. All the ones I've had run too hot for the critters I've used them for (snakes).
Do you have a good thermometer to check the temps in the cage? Over the heat pad and the ambient temps?

If it's one of those that comes with the adhesive side- don't stick it onto the cage. In case you ever need to use it on another cage... removing them once they've been stuck on can damage them.

put a thermometer on the floor of the tank directly above the heat mat and check the temp there. The heat pad will usually put the temp of the air 20 degrees centigrade above the room temp.
