A friend of mine had a LARGE burm given to him it is like 16 years old and about 19 foot. its HUGE. problem is the guy said it has been off feed for like a year. Any tips on how to get this old lady back to eating?

well i dont know if this would work or if he would even want to try it with rabbits(or goats lol). i once heard about dipping the dead prey item in chicken broth(im assuming hes feeding f/t) i guess the snakes like it or something. like i said ive never tried it i just heard about it once. someone can correct me if im wrong.

Maybe try poultry , or maybe spread a little rabbit blood on the head of the rabbit . Just and idea .

the blood on the head might work but if you can i would try to avoid poultry because i dont think it has a high nutrient content and it also carries salmonella.

Burms are suckers for chicken. You can try scenting the intended food item with chicken. I find getting alittle chicken blood on the intended item works wonders. The only draw back to this is chicken is like crack to burms. Your friend maybe stuck doing this for the life.

I think he still feeds live, I'll suggest the chicken thing though. Could he just feed it a chicken or are those bad for burms.

I will try to get a pic next time I am there. This thing is BIG and tame as a dog. The original owner was trying to donate it to a zoo and none would take it

He has always fed live rabbits or large rats.
