Herp Room Heating

I have a room in my house that I want to convert to a herp room. The dimentions are 13' long 8'wide and 7'6" high. I am keeping snakes and Bearded Dagons. So I would like the room to be about 80-85.

Any suggestions on how to best do this with out heating thewhole house.

Getting a space heater would be the obvious soloution, IMHO. A base board heater or a fan/element type heater. Find one that has an adjustable heat setting and set it to keep the temp where you want it. For a little more money you could get one that has a built it thermostat so it shuts off when the desired temp is reached. You could also plug the heater into a heat control device to get the same effect.

I use a small space heater w/ built in thermostat in my room. It works great! :)

Thanks...do you have the name brand or how many watts your portable or space heaters are.

canadian tire carries a small hang on the wall type that hangs right over the plug outlet it has a fan and turns off at the desired temp, i had one in a large 12'x6'x7' encloser and it would heat that very easily i believe when i bougt it 2 years ago it was around 54 bucks,it was a seabreeze,made in toronto 120v 60Hz 1500w 12.5 Amps has a high and low dial and 3 fan speeds

80-85F ambient in the room is a little warm isn't it? I mean, the Bearded cages will be at least 10F warmer and this won't give them any refuge. Unless they are going to be free range?

space heaters are expensive if you're paying for hydro.. and if you live in ontario with the new hydro costs space heating is even more expensive. you're better off to individually heat the tanks and keep those insulated.. not the room.

and like jeff said, thats probably way to hot, to heat the entire room.
some reptiles wont mind it, but some will..... Like i said, you're way better off individually heating their enclosures

Our appt has individual tempurature controls for each room thing is the people underneath us usually have their heat way up. So we've had to unplug some of the heatpads and just make sure the room maintains a minimum of 20c as it will jump up to 30 from the people down stairs. Our heaters rarely get warm. we'll have to get some of those thermostats that you can plug the heat pads into.
